Any good reports on Pope Land?
« on: September 26, 2013, 11:51:20 AM »
I have out of the loop for a couple years. Any one have anything good to say about the Pope Resource land, for deer hunting, west of the Hood Canal bridge? Time keeps me close to home (Poulsbo) so this area is close any suggestions would be helpful. Want to find a place to get my grand kids started.

With 132 view's of this post there must be more than one reply about this area. Somebody out there must hunt this land. How about some more feedback, please.

I have a friend that owns a cabin on the water.  We went up in there hunting but there are lots of folks.  He did better closer to the water once the pressure was on.

easy access because of major road that runs through and you can walk right in.  Tons of deer and bears in there...but lots of people.  You can usually see them and keep distance since on foot.

 :yeah:

I have killed lots of deer there

Thats why theres so many people

Buck on my avatar was killed on state land across the bridge, killed in the middle of a popular shooting and trash dumping area (theres-too many !)

why ?
Cause I scouted it and knew he was there in a hidey hole
Try it, you'll see

Pope...aka Olympic Resource Management owns about a 1/3rd of what they used to own back in the day. I would start by going to their website and looking at this years hunting map. Alot of their land is closed or walk in only. And alot of what used to be their land is private. Some of my old honey holes over there have been private for a few years now..

With your map in hand take a day trip or two and learn some area. A lot of dear and alot of people. I would avoid opening weekend personaly. Last week of Oct should be money.  :twocents:
